The first column contains at least two categories, these will determine the labels of the pie chart. The data used for a Pie chart usually comes in a table with two columns. We'll give you some advice to avoid common mistakes. You always want to pick the visualization that best highlights the key features you want to show. As so often, many roads lead to Rome and there is no single ideal visualization that always works. There are various ways of showing shares, which we will discuss in more detail at the end of this paper. Common examples are the shares of Democrats and Republicans voting for the different political parties in an election or the market shares of companies. It is a common task to show how a group is divided into individual pieces that each represent a proportion of the whole. That is the main reasons why pie charts don't enjoy the best reputation. But this is precisely what a pie chart does. However, humans are not very good at decoding information represented as angles and area. Why are Pie charts bad?ĭata visualization should serve the purpose of being able to draw correct conclusions about the data from a graphical display in order to interpret it quickly and more importantly, correctly. (is it correct as I have read, that taking it on a long with a bit of right foot down, it will do a forced regeneration this way) Now by admission the car does not do many long trips and is not filled to the neck every time it gets low on fuel, so the top and bottom of my query is can a dealer ask me to pay for this work while it is still under warranty and is way below the 50,000 mile service cycle. This car has only just done 20,000 miles and from what info I have been able to obtain the FAP system is to be serviced 50,000 now the dealer has told the wife it needs additive topping up and a forced regeneration doing, at a cost to me of £140.00. Hi, this is my first post on this site and would appreciate any info you can give, I have read a lot of problems regarding the 307 HDI fap problem but not found much relating to the 206. UPDATE 20170119: I decided to implement slash escaping decode that works for both Python 2 and Python 3. See Python’s Unicode Support for details. Lines.append(code('utf-8', 'backslashreplace')) That works only for Python 3, so even with this workaround you will still get inconsistent output from different Python versions: PY3K = sys.version_info >= (3, 0) UPDATE 20170116: Thanks to comment by Nearoo - there is also a possibility to slash escape all unknown bytes with backslashreplace error handler. UPDATE 20150604: There are rumors that Python 3 has the surrogateescape error strategy for encoding stuff into binary data without data loss and crashes, but it needs conversion tests, -> ->, to validate both performance and reliability. See the missing points in Codepage Layout - it is where Python chokes with infamous ordinal not in range. The same applies to latin-1, which was popular (the default?) for Python 2. UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xff in position 2: invalid It will make handling Unicode far less painful. If you don't know the encoding, then to read binary input into string in Python 3 and Python 2 compatible way, use the ancient MS-DOS CP437 encoding: PY3K = sys.version_info >= (3, 0)īecause encoding is unknown, expect non-English symbols to translate to characters of cp437 (English characters are not translated, because they match in most single byte encodings and UTF-8).ĭecoding arbitrary binary input to UTF-8 is unsafe, because you may get this: > b'\x00\x01\xffsd'.decode('utf-8') Unless you are forced to use Python 2 I strongly advise you to switch to Python 3. You may find this article helpful: Pragmatic Unicode, which was written by SO veteran Ned Batchelder. Here's some Python 2 code that illustrates this: for i in xrange(256):Īnd here is the equivalent Python 3 code: for i in range(256): Works because the Unicode codepoints less than 256 correspond directly to the characters in the Latin1 encoding (aka ISO 8859-1). The technique given in kennytm's answer: msg.encode('latin1').decode('utf-8') Python 3 behaves much more sensibly: that code would simply fail with AttributeError: 'str' object has no attribute 'decode' It knows that it can't decode Unicode so it "helpfully" assumes that you want to encode msg with the default ASCII codec so the result of that transformation can be decoded to Unicode using the UTF-8 codec. You can encode from Unicode to some type of encoding, or you can decode a byte string to Unicode. Is that you are trying to decode Unicode. This will be on the right hand side of the opening of any book composed in a script that is read from left-to-right, such as Latin (as used in English), Cyrillic, or Greek, and will be opposite for books composed in a script that is read from right-to-left, such as Hebrew and Arabic. This usually appears abbreviated: "f26r." means the first side of the 26th leaf in a book. Second, folio is used in terms of page numbering for some books and most manuscripts that are bound but without page numbers as an equivalent of "page" (both sides), "sheet" or "leaf", using " recto" and " verso" to designate the first and second sides, and (unlike the usage in printing) disregarding whether the leaf concerned is actually physically still joined with another leaf. Ordinarily, additional printed folio sheets would be inserted inside one another to form a group or "gathering" of leaves prior to binding the book. Each leaf of a folio book thus is one half the size of the original sheet. The term " folio" (from Latin folium 'leaf' ), has three interconnected but distinct meanings in the world of books and printing: first, it is a term for a common method of arranging sheets of paper into book form, folding the sheet only once, and a term for a book made in this way second, it is a general term for a sheet, leaf or page in (especially) manuscripts and old books and third, it is an approximate term for the size of a book, and for a book of this size.įirst, a folio (abbreviated fo or 2 o) is a book or pamphlet made up of one or more full sheets of paper, on each of which four pages of text are printed, two on each side each sheet is then folded once to produce two leaves. dies, the scene I explained to you is what I think what made this expert review 14+. Fortunately there was not that much graphic violence most of it was clean except 1 scene that if we were home watching it I would have wanted to skip, one of them was when lara and the antagonist crew were in the tomb trying to solve the puzzle when one of the crew touches a skeleton and then his hand starts turning black and then it goes all around his body and it kinda looks like he is an alien then he screams and falls to the ground and well. So I said to him that whatever I say if the movie gets to violent then James (My son) must go to his mother otherwise it will be a waste of a ticket. Then it should be fine, it has the same violence and actually less language then the latest Indiana Jones, when me and my son went to the theaters to go watch this movie I was not to sure if I would be okay with this movie because it looked quite intense and was very hopeful that it did not have spirits like the old Indiana Jones movies, (which I only allowed him to watch the latest one which was still quite intense). The best movie ever, if your kids have seen Indiana jones (the latest one) To stay in the loop on more movies like this, you can sign up for weekly Family Movie Night emails. But die-hard Croft fans - and/or viewers hungry for female-driven action movies - will likely give it a chance. The movie is very noisy and, alas, not much fun, though it does stress the value of sacrifice and perseverance. Language includes a few uses of "s-t" and a couple of cut-off uses of "f-k." A secondary character is said to be drunk and later nurses a hangover. Lara wears a tight tank top throughout (paralleling the games), but otherwise sex isn't an issue. Lara Croft ( Alicia Vikander) takes a lot of physical punishment, often crying out in pain or terror she also kills people with no repercussion or remorse. The violence is largely bloodless but very intense, with lots of guns and shooting, arrows, fighting, beating, bludgeoning, stabbings, crashes, and explosions. Parents need to know that Tomb Raider is a reboot of the video game-based Lara Croft action series, which also inspired two previous movies. If you are entering Tomorrowland from Main Street, you will notice it right away, with Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters to the left and Star Tours to the right. As previously mentioned, the ride is located in Tomorrowland, and is pretty hard to miss seeing as it is one of the main focal points of Tomorrowland due to its central location. The switch to the name “Astro Orbiter” occurred in the late nineties, and the latest version that can be seen today has been around since 2009. In 1967, they were renamed the Rocket Jets. In 1964, its name was changed to the Tomorrowland Jets. When the ride first debuted, it was known as the Astro Jets. The Astro Orbiter ride at Disneyland has gone through several renovations, paint jobs, and even been renamed multiple times since it first opened in 1956. There is also plenty of room to store purses, diaper bags, or backpacks inside the rocket, as you can see in the image of my husband and daughter riding below. You can move the joystick up and down to repeatedly to make your rocket mimic the motion, you can push it all the way up to go as high as possible, or you can find a height that you are comfortable with and leave it there as your rocket joins the others in a circular parade around a towering display of planets while having a fantastic view of the rest of Tomorrowland for the few minutes of your flight. How the ride operates is that you climb into a horizontal-facing jet rocket, seat belt yourself (and your companion if you are riding with someone else) in, and then use a joystick to adjust how high your rocket goes. Yup… my little princess didn’t even try to hide her enthusiasm for the rockets, nor the urgency in her mind to quit talking to Tinker Bell so she could go do more important things, namely ride “the rockets”.įor those of you who have never experienced “the rockets” or as the ride is more formally known, “The Astro Orbiter”, it is an attraction that is similar to the Dumbo ride in Fantasyland. Yes, even meeting two of her favorite characters (Rapunzel and Tinker Bell) didn’t quite compare, as my little princess spent most of her time in Pixie Hollow chatting with Tinker Bell not about Peter Pan, or fairies, or pixie dust, but about the rockets across the way in Tomorrowland. In fact, they were the only two attractions in Disneyland that we duplicated because she was requesting them so much. Interest: Preschoolers, kids, tweens, teens and adults. After reflecting on my two year old daughter’s first trip to Disneyland experience, I can concur that in her mind, Disneyland has two things- the teacups, and the rockets. If you have been on Dumbo the Elephant and Magic Carpet of Aladdin, it is very similar but it lacks the cuteness that the other ones offer. My daughter likes it but even she can pass it by on her way to Space Mountain and not even think twice about it. I am just not a fan of the rickety elevator or the fact that it is elevated and then rotates high in the air. If you have never been on it, you should, by all means go for it. I really like the look of the renovation and change is always good but this ride is not one that is usually on our list of “must-dos”. The new space-aged galaxy design surrounded by planets has now become the focal point of Tomorrowland. It was always fun to soar through the air taking in the great view of the castle with every passing. Of course, I also wasn’t afraid of heights at that time.ĭuring the revamping of Tomorrowland, Star Jets underwent a major renovation and reopened as Astro Orbiter in 1994. As a child, Star Jets was one of my favorite rides. This ride is one of Disney’s classics and originally opened as Star Jets. Reaching far above the sights of Tomorrowland, you use your joystick to raise and lower your rocket ship as you commandeer your flight. Board the elevator with fellow cadets to reach the loading platform and once you have received authorization from ground control, your spacecraft levitates and embarks on a minute and a half ride that revolves around a galaxy of planets. You can control your own rocket ship as the newest member and cadet of Disney’s space fleet. Climb aboard your very own spaceship and take off into space flying high above Tomorrowland on Astro Orbiter. |
